What would make your blood boil?
How upset would you be if the Bible were flushed down a toilet before your face? That was the question I asked last week. Your comments were helpful. There are different aspects to the question to be sure. While we should respect the word and prize it highly, it is not the highest revelation of God that we have been given, unlike what the Muslims believe regarding the Koran. Those poor people think they have to rely only on words dictated from and impersonal Allah through a now dead prophet. They say the pages breath the very words of Allah.
This notion, of course, is far different from the true word of God that has been divinely breathed out organically through the fingertips of chosen men. It is absolutely necessary and gives us everything we need for faith and life. Furthermore, it will never be bound as a criminal but will always prosper. Yet, it is not the highest revelation nor the most personal revelation of God. The Scripture which is living and active always points to the highest and most personal revelation of God which is our Savior, Jesus Christ through whom God has spoken in these last days. He is not dead but alive. Perhaps the Christian equivalent to what riled the people of
Remember that Christ’s body is still here on this earth, and it is his church. Perhaps we as Christians ought to be more enraged when we hear of the torture of our persecuted siblings around the world, for they are mystically united to Jesus Christ as are we. Knowing that those saints are being desecrated ought to make our blood boil far more than to see ink on paper destroyed. So let us take their cases before the Kings of kings and ask as the martyred saints in heaven do today, “O Sovereign Lord, holy and true, how long before you will judge and avenge our blood on those who dwell on the earth?” Revelation 6:10.
